Shubman Gill grew up in a small village in Fazilka, Punjab, where his family owned agricultural land. His father, Lakhwinder Singh, had a dream of becoming a cricketer but couldn’t pursue it due to financial constraints. Instead, he decided to nurture his son’s talent. Recognizing Shubman’s potential at an early age, Lakhwinder created a cricket pitch on their farm for practice.

Gill’s childhood was marked by discipline and focus. He would practice for hours under his father’s watchful eye. At the age of eight, his family relocated to Mohali so he could train at the Punjab Cricket Association Academy. His dedication bore fruit when he scored an unbeaten double century in the Vijay Merchant Trophy during his Under-16 debut for Punjab.
